Thank you for writing both articles. Your feelings are the same as mine on all points. I have talked to several men that have served in Iraq as police instructors. They have confirmed that the media just reports on the bad things that happen there. The places that they are reporting on are dangerous parts of the cities that parallel the dangerous parts of cities in our country. We are appreciated there and embrace our help.
God Bless You!!! Please keep up the wonderful work that you do by trying to awaken the voters.

Who we are... We are a nation which has forgotten that only Congress can declare war; Not its Executive in Chief.
Who we are... We are a people who has forgotten or never learned the lesson from Pres. Eisenhower in his farewell address and its warning of the "military industrial complex."
Who we are... We are a nation which was swayed by yet another slogan (War on... fill in the blank) delivered by an administration which pandered to a manufactured fear. Does anyone remember 1969 and the slogan of the day, "We have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here" (referring to the Viet Cong)? If anyone in the Middle East posed a threat to the USA., they would have to deliver that threat on a camel. ( A note to the uninformed, camels can't swim a great distance!)
Who we are... We are a people who confuses patriotism with everything but real patriotism. Real patriotism is the support of our country everyday and in every way. That support DOES NOT always mean supporting the administration running the affairs of state. Real patriotism demands each of us to question the mistakes and short comings our elected leaders and demand answers and consequences for those mistakes.
Who we are... We are a nation which in the words of St. Paul is "acting like busybodies but not keeping busy." We are a nation filled with compassionate conservatives which never blinked an eye at the murder of one million Iraqis.
Who we are... We are a nation looking to the horizon for a change; awaiting the date in history when we will become great again, because we will have become good again!

I am a proud American and not ashamed to say it. I believe in America and would love to see us return to supporting our president, our troops, our nation and I believe we have a moral obligation to continue to help those less fortunate than we are. My relatives came to America legally too, lets get tough and let our country not be afraid to step on some "politically incorrect" toes. Stand up America, you are a great country. I am not ashamed to be an American or to have faith in God to help us through this mess we are in now. God Bless us all.

Thanks for your courageous ad. Amen, Amen!
My father fled a repressive "old country", became a naturalized U.S. citizen and always dressed "to the nines" to go vote on election day.
My husband and I and our children spent many years in foreign countries serving in the USAF and know how great our country is first hand.

What more can be said, than: "Spoken as a true American!" With most politicians seeking a place in government for their own selfish ambitions or for the comfort of their own security; funded upon the sweat and blood of the American people, it is truly refreshing to read the thoughts of a true Patriot and countrymen not concerned with the issues of political correctness. The issue of change begins with the conviction of mind that leads to a change of heart. Hopefully, the hardened of heart and double minded will hear the truthfulness of this message and be convicted enough to have a change of heart.

Sir,
As an American ex-pat living in England I'm divorced from much of the political cut and parry of my native USA. On the other hand, I am also exposed to a wider perception of American and her role in the world - and how Europe perceives the exercise of her enormous power. I enjoyed your essay tremendously, but wish it would be used more as a catalyst for balanced discussion than a flag for highly polarised debate. The issues are rarely as black and white as they are portrayed. In my view the rush to opposite polls of any issue is the problem. In business, we seek to find areas of agreement and build on these to maximise the result for both parties. Americans are great at business, why are we unable to transfer that skill to political debate?
Again, thank you.
Respectfully,

Who we are … are citizens who are ill informed, whose values have shifted to embrace torture and easily disregard the deaths of more than a million Iraqis. We are a nation of fools for following an administration in its invasion and occupation of a country which could NEVER have been a threat to any American. History will judge us harshly for allowing corporate interests to overtake our once democratic system.

God bless you, sir!
If more Americans would awaken from their "collective coma of complacency" and have the WILL to stand up and fight for this once-great nation, we could reclaim this nation as One Nation UNDER GOD!
Our founders - even those who were not particularly relgious - have said that this nation would not stand without God....
I BEG all who read your comments to awaken and fight back against "political correctness" which threatens to destroy us!

Mr.Esseff,
I was so honnored to speak to you via phone. Do know that you are not alone in this cause. America is also honnored to have a citizen such as you still in its mist. Men with back bones are a rarity in this country these days.
God bless you

Dear Mr. Esseff,
You are a man this nation cannot do without! I wish that you could be President; or as others have said, that "more of our politicians would think like you". I wish the men and women who control the media coud be so honest. God bless you always!

Thank you for voicing beliefs that are so seldom expressed in the media. I especially enjoyed the point about liberals wanting to compel others to give money to projects, but not giving their own.

Mr. Esseff:
Like many others who have signed your guestbook, I am amazed that we are just now reading your eloquent words regarding America. In an age where true statesmen seldom exist, it is comforting to know that you are alive and well. I only wish we could hear you on the 6 o'clock news every evening! Thank you for your patriotism.
